WSU Administration's immediate action on women's health issues:

As soon as the Dean of the Graduate School heard that women's annual exams were not covered by Health and Wellness Services (HWS) nor the existing health care plan, he took immediate action. Through his inquiry and negotiation with the Women's Clinic and Health and Wellness administration women's annual exams will now be covered free of charge through HWS and the Graduate School. Here is  the memo the Dean wrote to graduate students Health and Wellness Letter from Dean.pdf

District 9 Senator and Representative Send Letter to PERC

Senator Schoesler and Representative Schmick sent a letter to the PERC asking them to make sure that WSU students have a vote about whether to unionize. Here is the letter Legislative letter to PERC.pdf. Both voted against the legislation because they had not heard from WSU students about whether we wanted this or not.

Response from PERC to Senator Schoesler and Representative Schmick

Here is the response from the Director of the PERC to our Senator and Representative Response from PERC.pdfThe cards are now with the PERC for a cross-check. We at WSU At What Cost? can only assume that the cards will not be cross-checked until after the law goes into effect - June 12, 2008.

WSU Administration investigating need for Family Leave Policy for Graduate and Professional Students

Yes, this is true. The WSU administration in their efforts to move the institution to AAU status is investigating the need for a Family Leave Policy for Graduate and Professional students. This policy would provide for time off for things like the birth or adoption of a child or medical issues. Here is a document that explains more: GPSA Grad Stu Leave.doc. It seems that the administration is working to secure measured, fair, and adequate benefits for us without unionizing.
